DXF Opener and online DXF Viewer from Kisters
Use the 3DViewStation if you want to work efficiently with DXF files. Other formats do not cause any problems either: Overall, the 3DViewStation understands over 70 different file formats, i.e. all known 2D and 3D formats. But not only the pure display, but also the processing as well as the export or the conversion into another data format is supported. And the 3DViewStation provides you with a lot of functionality for editing your data. Choose from over 180 functions to get to your desired destination quickly. The user-friendly interface enables you not only to get started quickly, but also to work efficiently with the software.
The 3DViewStation as a DXF viewer
The DXF file format was introduced by AutoDesk in 1982 as a CAD file format for data interoperability. DXF stands for Drawing Exchange Format or Drawing Interchange Format. While the DWG format is the native AutoCAD drawing format and the structure and structure are not published, the DXF format is a simply structured, open-source and well-documented format for storing 2D and 3D drawings and models. The purpose of DXF was to provide an exact copy of a DWG drawing and to exchange this construction data with other programs without revealing the DWG data format.
Create, view and edit not only DXF but also DWG and DWF drawings
DXF files are not to be confused with DWF files. DWF files are similar to DXF files, but are used to share files online, while DXF is used for interoperability. The DWG format, in turn, is similar to DFX in that it can also store 2D and 3D drawings and models. In contrast to the DXF format, DWG files can process more drawing data and construction types.
DXF Viewer free: Free Windows software for opening DXF drawings
Where can you not find articles about the download of a free program or free viewer for displaying DXF files everywhere on the Internet? However, free viewers or the freely available AutoCAD tools only allow viewing of the files. If you want to do more than just look at the 2D drawings, you will quickly be pushed to the limits of the program.
But whether it's DXF, DWG or DWF, all your data can be displayed with the 3DViewStation - including the other AutoDesk formats such as Inventor and Revit. However, the 3DViewStation is not just a pure viewer. Due to the extensive processing features, the term CAD visualization is used more in connection with the 3DViewStation. In addition to measurement and comparison functions, functions for annotations, views, import and export or conversions and much more are available. And if you want to try out the 3DViewStation once - nothing is easier than that: Simply switch to our download area, download the software and test it out free of charge for 30 days.
Online DXF Viewer for platform-independent top visualization - from Linux to Android
Most frequently, CAD viewing is carried out on the Windows PC. But lately the trend has been moving more and more towards the online visualization of CAD data. For those who would like to try out the 3DViewStation in this form, i.e. via the web or mobile, the 3DViewStation WebVewer is available to you. This means that you work absolutely platform-independently. All you need is an HTML5 capable browser. Whether iPhone, smartphone with Android, tablet with ChromeOS or Linux PC - with our WebViewer, the full functionality of the 3DViewStation is also available online. Simply register here. Afterwards you can test the many features of the 3DViewStation extensively either with the existing examples or with your uploaded Autodesk files.
Are you reluctant to upload data somewhere? You can also operate the WebViewer in your own home or in your company. Simply select an appropriate server, install the 3DViewStation WebViewer and off you go. This enables not only your colleagues, but also partners and customers to make data available online for visualization or processing. You don't need to worry about data security. No 2D or 3D data is transferred from the server to the browser or the end device. Another advantage is that you do not have to install a new version of the software on the many end devices during an update. Simply upgrade the software on the server once and you're done.
DXF View: What security does the DXF format offer me when exchanging data?
The DXF reference documentation does not mention the possibility of encryption. To protect your intellectual property, you must therefore encrypt the DXF files yourself and only then transfer them, just as you would with other file types. But why exchange CAD data in an unsafe and complicated manner via e-mail, FTP or cloud? In addition to the long upload and download loading times, you always lose a significant part of control over your own data. Therefore: Companies not only need software for visualizing and editing CAD data, but also an easy-to-set-up but nevertheless comfortable online user, file and project management system: VisShare.
VisShare is your company's own web environment for MultiCAD collaboration - ideal for your colleagues, teams and branches. As a platform with a common database and intuitive interface, VisShare enables all employees to have company-wide access and a uniform view of your CAD data. Data can be easily and securely shared, managed, controlled, visualized and analyzed. This makes it the ideal solution for efficient collaboration and enables transparent processes and workflows across specialist and departmental boundaries. A user and group administration (teams) regulates the access control and rights. This means that VisShare can also be used as a front-end for partners, suppliers and customers at the same time, without any major configuration and installation effort. You can also inspire your partners, suppliers and customers with a central web portal to securely and conveniently share data with one another, visualize, analyze and manage it in a powerful way. VisShare is easy to use, easy to install - easy for everyone.
What are the format differences between DXF and DWG?
Due to the publicly accessible documentation of DXF, it is still a frequently used data format for cross-platform data exchange today. However, the spread has decreased more and more. Why? AutoCAD has become more and more powerful over time and supports increasingly complex object types. However, not all of these are documented in DXF, such as ACIS solids. Still other, new object types are only partially documented or not described well enough to support third-party providers in developing interfaces. In this respect, the DXF format no longer represents the 100% export of a DWG file.
