Present day 3D CAD data often contains manufacturing information, which is called: PMI (Product Manufacturing Information). The PMI replaces detail views, sections, tolerances and surface quality hints from former 2D drawings. The concept is frequently called MBD (Model Based Definition), CAD vendors also reference GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
